2. Services
Harbor & Hearth provides interior design consultancy, furniture curation, boutique hospitality design, and styling consultation services. The specific scope of any engagement will be set out in a written proposal or project agreement provided to the client prior to work commencing.
2.1 Scope of Work
Any work carried out beyond the agreed scope will be discussed with the client in advance and may be subject to additional fees. We will never carry out work outside the agreed brief without your explicit approval.
2.2 Design Consultations
Styling consultations are one-time fixed-fee engagements of two hours duration. The output includes a written recommendations report and sourcing guide delivered within five working days of the session.
3. Fees and Payment
Our fees are agreed in writing prior to any work commencing. For full design projects, we typically require a deposit of 50% upon instruction, with the remaining balance due upon project completion and before final installation. Consultation fees are payable in full at the time of booking.
3.1 Late Payment
Invoices are due within 14 days of issue. We reserve the right to charge interest on late payments at a rate of 8% per annum above the Bank of England base rate, in accordance with the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.
3.2 Expenses
Reasonable expenses incurred during a project (such as travel beyond 30 miles from Brighton, specialist material samples, or site surveys) will be invoiced separately with receipts and agreed with the client in advance.
4. Intellectual Property
All design concepts, drawings, mood boards, specifications, and creative work produced by Harbor & Hearth remain our intellectual property until full payment has been received, at which point ownership of the finalised designs is transferred to the client for use in their specific project only. We retain the right to use images of completed projects in our portfolio and marketing materials, with client consent where required.
5. Client Responsibilities
Clients are responsible for:
- Providing accurate measurements and information about their space
- Obtaining any necessary building or planning consents
- Ensuring safe and reasonable access to the property for our team
- Reviewing and approving design proposals in a timely manner
- Communicating changes to brief or requirements promptly
6. Cancellation and Changes
Clients wishing to cancel a project after work has commenced will be charged for all work completed to date plus a cancellation fee of 25% of the remaining project value. Styling consultation bookings cancelled with less than 48 hours notice will forfeit their full booking fee.
Changes to project scope are welcome and will be managed via a written change order process. Additional costs will be agreed before work on the change proceeds.
7. Third-Party Suppliers and Contractors
Harbor & Hearth works with a trusted network of artisan suppliers and contractors. We take care in selecting and managing these relationships; however, we cannot accept liability for the actions, delays, or defects of third-party suppliers beyond our reasonable control. Where possible, we will assist in resolving any issues that arise.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Harbor & Hearth's liability to any client is limited to the total fees paid by that client for the specific project in question. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or incidental damages arising from our services.
9. Dispute Resolution
We are committed to resolving any concerns promptly and fairly. If a dispute arises, we ask that you contact us at [email protected] in the first instance. We aim to respond to all formal complaints within five working days.
10. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes that cannot be resolved amicably shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
11. Amendments
